Baguio is a mountain city in northern Luzon at about 1,465 m, known as the country's summer capital. Its academies are known for the "Spartan" model: long timetables and an English-only rule on campus. It suits anyone who wants sustained focus and cool air away from coastal heat.

What to know before you choose

Climate
Roughly 7–10°C cooler than the lowlands: daytime temperatures usually 15–23°C, coldest from November to February. Dry season is broadly November–April and wet May–October. Note that Baguio is one of the rainiest places in the Philippines, and the wet season can disrupt travel.
What it's like
A relatively quiet university city, walkable around its centre on Session Road.
Getting around
Getting around is by jeepney and taxi, and the city centre is walkable.
Nearest airport
⚠️ Plan to arrive overland. The Cebu–Baguio flight route was announced for suspension in 2024, and the practical arrival is via Clark International Airport (about 175 km, with a direct bus of roughly four hours) or via Manila and then four to six hours by road.
Who it suits
Anyone after maximum focus and minimum distraction, and anyone who doesn't cope well with heat and humidity. It isn't a good fit if you want a beach nearby or a short trip from the airport.
